In the villages in China, tobacco smoking is a hobby, and used as a way to communicate.  Originally brought there by traders from other countries, it is often thought that if you smoke with someone, then he is your friend.  This man grew his own tobacco, harvested it, then dried it in the sun.  Afterwards, he cut it into tiny pieces and fitted it into his bamboo pipe.
