For many years, the NYMEX Foundation (NF) has been a proud partner of Channel Thirteen's in providing free public educational programming to children in the New York Metropolitan area.
The winning bidder of this opportunity will be the NF's representative during Thirteen's December 2008 pledge drive. The NF's challenge will be presented during Roy Orbison & Friends: A Black & White Night on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. You will appear on air throughout a break from the program and asked to talk about the Foundation as well as stress to viewers at home the importance of supporting public access television.

ROY ORBISON & FRIENDS: A BLACK AND WHITE NIGHT is an acclaimed television special starring Hall of Fame singer/songwriter Roy Orbison that was originally broadcast on January 3, 1988. Filmed entirely in black and white, this special consists of a performance of Orbison's hits at the Ambassador Hotel's Coconut Grove nightclub in Los Angeles on September 30, 1987, approximately one year before Orbison's death.
Organized by musical director T-Bone Burnett, Orbison is joined by back up singers Bonnie Raitt, Jennifer Warnes and k.d. Lang, and accompanied by notable musicians including Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, and Steven Soles. The performance of "Oh, Pretty Woman," featuring a duel of guitar solos between Springsteen and lead guitarist James Burton was nominated for a Grammy Award for best live performance, and upon its re-release in 1991 won the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
