About Jessica
Artists paint for different reasons, some of them in a realistic way, others surrealistic and some of them abstract; but Jessica paints from the sounds, colors, textures and feelings she brought with her from her hometown in Ciudad Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico. While always looking for new experiences and searching for new ways to express her feelings, her work always has the feeling of Mexico in it.
Jessica works from simple form and shape, heavy textures and warm earth tones that characterize the work of many of the famous Mexican artists. Simple still lifes of Tamayo, the abstract qualities of Aceves Navarro, the colors of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, but at the same time using her unique approach to solving the problems in her universe and sharing her most intense emotions in her paintings.
Jessica, was born in Chihuahua, Mexico in 1973. Her introduction to plastic arts was at the age of 11 years in her home town school where she began her first experiments in painting and drawing. In 1992 she moved to Monterrey, Mexico where she obtained her bachelor's degree in marketing at the "Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey" and continued her artistic studios simultaneously. In early 2001, she moved to Dallas, Texas to continue her art, experimenting with different techniques, materials, textures and in search of her personal growth as an artist. In 2002, the Dallas Business Committee of Arts recognized the artist with the 1st place for the "People's Choice Award" and 1 st place for "Work on Canvas" at the On my own time exhibition held at Comerica Bank Texas.
This year, Jessica is participating in different exhibitions in galleries and stores both in the U.S. and in her native country Mexico.
