Description
Join Principal Dr. Parziale and Science teacher Ms. Brisson in a Driscoll Science tradition! Eighth graders will partner with your child's class to do one of the following activities:
-Egg Drop:
Groups of younger students team up with eighth graders to design a transportation device that will safely carry an egg from the roof of Driscoll School to the pavement below. Students will learn about the design process and how to manage design constraints.
- Bridge Building:
Groups of younger students work alongside eighth graders to design, build and test a bridge. The material constraints are to be determined, but students will learn about the pros and cons of different types of bridge designs.
- Squid Dissection:
Younger students work with the eighth graders to explore how form and function are exemplified in our sea friend: the squid. Kids will understand that the shape of different parts of an animal are directly related to their function. They'll also have a lot of fun and walk away with some souvenirs!
