Description
The students in Ms. Evans' 1st Grade class are proud to present to you a beautiful piece of modern art. Each section was painted by a different student in class and then put together to make two stunning masterpieces. They took their inspiration from famous modern abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky, who thought color and rhythm make beautiful music together. They also used as inspiration the book “THE MISSING PIECE Meets the BIG O” by Shel Silverstein. A book that talked to them about not waiting for someone else to come along to make things happen, but what happens when you find the courage to try something new, to try something you didn’t think you could do. It talked to them about the possibilities of change and that you can become what you dream if you take a chance. You lift yourself up and you may start with a flip and a flop and a plop, but if you keep going pretty soon you are bumping then bouncing then rolling!! We flipped and flopped and bumped and bounced and eventually rolled our way toward making this colorful and rhythmic “Circle Art” that sings with the joy each child put into.
Thank you to Evans' class for this beautiful artwork and to Mitzi Brumbaugh, Kirsten Michelon and Laura Meade who helped make this such a successful fun project!!
