Print notes:  One of Neil’s favorites!  It displays so much that he admires: the brilliant colors, the reflections, the shimmer in the water.  (Small cove at Nagog Pond.)

Artist Statement:  I hope my work encourages others to look at nature more closely, become aware of its beauty, and act to protect it.

Technique:  All images have been taken with hand-held digital cameras in natural ambient light; not having to set up a tripod or attach a flash allows me to move and shoot quickly to capture fleeting objects or momentary lighting.  These digital images are treated with absolute minimum digital adjustments so they remain truest to nature.

Equipment: Earliest images in late 2000 were taken with Ultra-Zoom Olympus digital cameras.  Images since May 2004 were taken with Nikon D70 and D80 digital SLRs and high quality Nikon lenses.  I make my own prints on an Epson 2200 inkjet printer with archival pigment inks.

Biography:  I've been fascinated by nature since my early childhood in rural upstate New York and been active in photography since my teens. Now, with the freedom of digital photography, I'm able to capture winter’s frost patterns with their amazing intricacy and summer’s stunning flowers, birds, and insects. I like to seize the moment and photograph subjects close up, often with a sparkle that makes them glow! 

Other interests include playing percussion in The Concord Band (a 65-piece symphonic wind ensemble), playing volleyball, kayaking, reading and gardening.

By profession I am a mechanical engineering consultant specializing in product design.   Since 1978, I've enjoyed helping to bring many new products to market, with current emphasis on medical electronics and green technologies
