This is one of my favorite photographs from a series that I took at St. Michael’s on the Eastern Shore this past summer.  It was late afternoon, and the sun was just at the right point in the sky to bathe everything in its path with a warm glow.  I was looking out across a dock in the harbor and noticed these great crimson hues rippling in the water below.  I was mesmerized by the way the water reflected a red boathouse that was nestled on the dock above, abstracting the colors and shapes in its wake to resemble a crackled abstract painting.  Just enough of the dock is included in the image to allow the viewer to see that it is a water scene, and not just an abstraction.  No computer enhancement was used to create this image.
