Description

In this project, students were given a challenging task: to draw individual 5” x 7” bird compositions that would be framed separately, yet when hung together in groups and linked by eyehooks, the viewer would see them as a unified harmonious whole.  The students were divided into groups based on a selection of local birds: Chesapeake Bay Birds, Maryland Backyard Birds, and Hummingbirds.  After doing a bit of research in the computer lab on their bird choice, each student drew their bird with some of its surrounding habitat, coloring in some areas while leaving other areas in pencil.  Each group worked together to unify their pieces, creating three final works that are stunning representations of birds in our area!

Chesapeake Bay Birds and Hummingbirds are approx. 40” x 10”, while Maryland Backyard Birds is approx. 47” x 10.” Artist’s statements accompany each work.

This is a Live Event Item.
