Description
Detert Family Vineyards is one of Napa's oldest and most storied vineyards. Originally planted to Cabernet Franc in 1949, the Detert property is believed to be the oldest Cabernet Franc vineyard site in the Napa Valley. It is surrounded by such noteables as Harlan, Paradigm, To Kalon, Opus One, and Far Niente. These grapes have been sold to Mondavis Opus One program for years. Winemaker Tom Garrett has worked for Turley, Joseph Phelps Vineyards, and Robert Mondavi Winery. For the past three vintages, Tom has worked under Heidi Peterson Barrett as the assistant winemaker and general manager for Revana Family Vineyard. This ultra rare magnum of Cab Franc (only 296 cases made) is a stand alone wine from Napa's finest grapes. 92 points from Wine Spectator. Bright currant, plum, and black cherry flavors have a lushness about them, with delicate spice, tobacco, sassafras cedar and herb notes. The detailed flavors sail on in the finish. Drink now through 2014. 1.5 L.
