Description

Just inside the Arguello Gate of the Presidio lies a secret treasure--the Spire, a towering tree sculpture created by world famous artist Andy Goldsworthy! For this special day, five families will meet at the Rhoa/Brailer house to watch a short “making of the Spire” video, then join a park ranger/naturalist to hike to the Spire while hearing more about the artwork and the surrounding forest. And there’s more--ace professional photographer Kathi O’Leary will capture the outing in lovely candids of the kids and parents as they ramble through the magnificent scenery! After viewing Goldsworthy’s art up close, everyone will hike down the El Polin Loop trail for a splendid picnic lunch whipped up by the creative folks at the Crissy Field Center Cafe. Short or long, easy or challenging, the day can be tailored to the group’s wishes and abilities. A day like this will make you happy you live in San Francisco! Includes hike, ranger talk, photographs by Kathi O’Leary, lunch, a copy of the video and a book about Andy Goldsworthy and the Spire.
