“Lotus” by Christopher Ries (8 3/8” by 3½” by 2 3/8”) Cut, ground, polished, and frosted optical crystal.
Mr. Ries composes light through the medium of glass. He is pre-eminent in the field of glass sculpting. Mr. Ries works with solid blocks of optic crystal and releases form, employing the same techniques used in stone sculpting. His creations are deceptively simple in form, but complex in expression, creating solid, unassembled glass sculptures unprecedented in design and size. His work is included in many public and private collections, nationally and internationally.
