About Day One

Before DayOne, women turned to hospitals for childbirth classes and breastfeeding support. To a mother's group to connect with other moms. And to several stores to find essential baby products.

Our goal was to provide all the essential baby services, support and products that new parents and babies need during this important time of life – all in one convenient location. Andrew Zenoff, inventor of the My BrestFriend breastfeeding pillow, and Nancy Held, an expert in perinatal nursing, realized that goal in 2000 when they joined forces and opened the first DayOne Center in San Francisco.

A vision that keeps growing

DayOne quickly earned the praise of community parents and doctors, even being named the "Best Place to Go After You've Had a Baby" by SF Weekly. We added a Palo Alto center in March 2006. And in June 2008, we extended our much-needed support for new and expectant families to a third Bay Area location: Walnut Creek.

Just as important as the "why" of our story is the "who." Any time you walk through our doors, you will be greeted by a group of truly experienced and compassionate professionals with expertise in lactation consulting, parent education, and maternity and baby products.

A relaxing, baby-friendly environment

DayOne is a truly unique and welcoming place where you can meet your needs as a parent while satisfying your baby's needs during your visit. We have Dutalier glider rockers, nursing stools and "My Brest Friend" nursing pillows. If your baby needs to be changed, you'll find two padded changing stations equipped with newborn diapers, Mustela wipes and cleansing products - one of the many benefits of DayOne’s optional membership. We even have two precision weigh stations where you can check your baby's growth between pediatrician visits.

While you're here, be sure to browse our pregnancy, birth and childcare resource library. It's the largest in Northern California, with more than 1,000 books, DVDs and videos for you to borrow. Titles range from popular topics on parenting and childcare to more specialized topics on twins, high-risk pregnancy, and child-proofing.
