Cafe Cordiale opened its doors the first time on October 16, 1985 with great enthusiasm, but not a hint of publicity; only word of mouth propelled it. The restaurant has become exceptionally popular for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, late night music, holiday events, and private parties. The owners of Cafe Cordiale -- David, Margaret and Peter May -- have a combined 60 years in the food and beverage industry and have lived in the Sherman Oaks community for over 40 years.

Cafe Cordiale serves not only the local neighborhood, but customers from throughout the city. Customers are made to feel like part of the family, and frequently comment that it is like a "home away from home."

The live entertainment has taken on a life of its own supported by musicians and locals who appreciate live entertainment. As the Zagat Survey states "It might be strange to see such a place in the Valley, but pretty people flock to this little gem in Sherman Oaks for drinks, dinner and a very classy variety of live jazz and R&B; though you may rub elbows with a tourist from Duluth, inside sources know this cozy "no-cover" cool spot is a top-notch musician hangout."

Holidays have also been a very special time for Cafe Cordiale because of the close friendships that we share with our customers. Every holiday season, Cafe Cordiale decks the restaurant with elaborate decorations setting the stage for Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve.
