Special Instructions

A native of Los Angeles, Elizabeth Prescott has taught vocal and performance technique in New York and Los Angeles for twenty years.

Her grandparents were acclaimed radio and television composer and conductor Wilbur Hatch (I Love Lucy, Star Trek, Gunsmoke, Twilight Zone, etc.), celebrated vocalist, conductor and singing teacher Peggy Mathews Hatch, award-winning British actress and beauty queen Eugenie Prescott Bloomberg, and Academy award-winner (with nine nominations) sound director and sound design pioneer Daniel Bloomberg.

After ten years of vocal and instrumental study, Elizabeth attended Chapman University on a generous acting scholarship awarded in a west coast Shakespeare festival and competition. In her late teens, she studied at the Ashland Shakespearean Festival in Oregon, and in Stratford and London with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

A member of the Screen Actors Guild, Actor's Equity Association, and the America Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Ms. Prescott began performing in Equity productions in 1988 and has racked up dozens of onstage credits since that time including New York City Opera productions of The Desert Song and South Pacific. Elizabeth sang for two years with the Grammy-winning L.A. Jazz Choir and has extensive film and television recording credits.

In 1987, Ms. Prescott began her many years of study with legendary teacher and author David Craig (On Singing Onstage). With his unique approach to the actor-singer, David provided the basis of the audition and performance techniques Ms. Prescott teaches privately and in workshops today.

In 2001, Ms. Prescott teamed with Richard Seymour to produce Music from the Heart. The show raised $250,000 for brain cancer research through the UCLA neuro-oncology organization "Art of the Brain." Since this transforming experience, Ms. Prescott has produced or been involved in casting projects of all shapes and sizes for both stage and film. Her experiences on the other side of the casting table have informed her own coaching work with actors and singers.

Most recently, she was invited to teach an audition workshop at the 2004 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Also this year, Now Casting, the popular online submission service, has chosen Ms. Prescott's informative articles for their new "FROM THE EXPERTS" section of Actors Ink E-Magazine; six articles on such topics as audition technique, vocal health, and vocal technique will be featured throughout 2004.

Professional theater credits include Sarah in Guys and Dolls, Cinderella in Into the Woods, Ann Collier in 1940's Radio Hour, Young Heidi in Follies, Kathy in The Student Prince, Eliza Dolittle in My Fair Lady, Marsinah in Kismet, Cagelle in La Cage Aux Folles, Bonnie Jeanne in Brigadoon, Maria in West Side Story, Mrs. Bedwin in Oliver, Ann Sullivan in The Miracle Worker, Adelle in Die Fledermaus, Emily in Our Town, Ophelia in Hamlet, Desdemona in Othello (in French), Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Portia in The Merchant of Venice (in Russian), and Constance Neville in She Stoops to Conquer. Other professional credits: The Wizard of Oz, Billy Barnes Revue, Evita, Man of La Mancha, Mame, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and many more.
