Born in Chicago, IL, I began to perform and write music by the age of 11.  After studying the French Horn for four years under Melanie Cottle of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, my love of
music and composition took me to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where I studied film scoring.  As a student I had the honor of performing with Quincy Jones, Michael Kamen, Steve Smith, Neil Stubenhaus, and J.J. Johnson.  It was during this period of my life, surrounded by the huge population of international students at Berklee, that I became interested in world history and literature. After finding success as a music editor in the film industry I realized that teaching is my true passion and pursued a teaching credential.  

     In the summer of 2006 I went skydiving for the first time and LOVED it!!!  It was quite the adrenaline rush to jump out of a plane at 12,500 ft.  I fell for about a minute before I opened the parachute at which point it took me about five minutes to make it back down to earth.  I can't wait to go again!
     I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of Millikan's Performing Arts Magnet.  In the summer of 2008 I was a chaperone on Millikan's trip to China to perform for the Olympic Cultural Festivals.  We had an amazing time.  Pictures can be found on the China Trip 2008 section of this website.
