There is something great about capturing a good impression of someone at a certain point in their life.  I believe there is something even greater when capturing a person over time through the medium of paint.  In a certain way a painting can convey emotional truth that a photograph does not.  Getting to know the subject and allowing them to speak through the painting can bring wonderful results.  As one client said to me, "Alex, you caught his soul".

Description:
$800 Gift Certificate toward the purchase of a Painted Portrait (Typical prices of Head and Shoulders: Pastel $1600, Oil is $2200).  Please be aware this is not a full value gift certificate.  The first meeting can be either by phone or in person to answer any questions and determine the basic feel or tone of the portrait, size, type of clothing and background.  Usually in the client's home a series of photographs are taken and a color sketch or 'map' is created to establish the most accurate color-values in the painting.  With the client, the choice of a source photograph is made to determine the best pose and facial expression of the subject.  Back in the studio, Alex brings the painting up to a high degree of finish before returning to paint from life.
