Sharpen your knives because Top Chef is coming to CDS. You can compete for the coveted title of CDS Top Chef in an evening filled with food, wine and cutthroat culinary competition. Will you survive the Quickfire Challenge and be one of three to make it to the Elimination Challenge? Or will you be among the three that pack their knives and go after the initial round?

Here’s how it will work. Six chefs, with a sous chef of their choice, will begin the competition for the title in a series of Quickfire Challenges where each chef will create small plates for the demanding judges — about 25 parents, staff and friends of CDS. The event night is set for June 20, 2009!

Chez Veiga/Evans, along with their co-hosts Luomanen/Grey, will supply a selection of proteins, along with access to the contents of the extensive pantry of Chez Veiga/Evans.  Each chef will be notified of their protein seven days in advance and will be given up to three hours of prep time before the first Quickfire challenge. Chefs are encouraged to bring up to five of their own secret ingredients, including prepared ingredients like sauces and complex spices. For the Quickfire, two chefs at a time will cook side-by-side and only three will advance to the next round — a surprise elimination round.

No prep is required for the elimination round which will send one chef and his or her knives packing.

The final two chefs will then compete head-to-head in a single course, small plate challenge. The winner will be crowned CDS TOP CHEF and surely go on to fame and fortune in foodie SF!

Each entry is $150 and includes a chef and sous chef.  It's a First Come First Served for six teams, only available for purchase on Fiesta night!
