Alexis Bittar started designing jewelry in his East Village apartment eleven years ago. Inspired by Bakelite and Lalique glass, he began to hand carve, hand paint, and gild Lucite. His singular technique creates luminescent jewelry that is plainly brilliant. While selling his work on the streets of New York City, Bittar was discovered by the buyers for the Guggenheim Museum and Henri Bendel.

His innate ability to mix unusual colors into bold combinations is closely rivaled by an intuitive understanding of how to join distinct textures.  Bittar's pieces have become collectible. Women as diverse as Barbara Walters, Madeleine Albright, Oprah Winfrey, Eve, Annette Bening, Pink, Vanessa Redgrave, and Queen Latifah are avid patrons.
