Log Cabin Retreat NC- long weekend sleeps 8(1Brd/loft 1 Ba) Located 7 miles west of Murphy, NC -- 2 hrs from Atlanta airport (pending traffic, of course)45 minutes from Nantahala rafting/railroad; 20 minutes from John C. Campbell Folk School. Real Log Cabin on 1 1/2 acres surrounded by woods. Only one visable neighbor. 1 bedroom (bunk bed w/double underneath), plus loft w/queen bed, 1 bathroom. Sleeps 8 including living room futon, plus extra fold-out double guest mattress and, of course, sleeping bags in the closet. Child gates on stairs; high chair and folding crib available. Skylights, decks on 4 sides, covered front deck with hammock. Fireplace, ceiling fans, propane heat for winter -- 4 seasons but no a/c. Charcoal grill, tire swing, lots of fishing poles. washer/dryer but no dishwasher or TV (CD/radio player for country tunes!) You might get lucky and be there to harvest pears, rapberries, blueberries, currents or blackberries; young apple, peach & cherry trees aren't bearing yet; old asparagus bed does produce a few delicious stalks if you manage to visit during the right week in the spring. |
