Description:
Petras Kardokas was born in 1950 in a small Lithuanian Village and since 1968 has been living in Lithuania‘s second largest city, Kaunas.AIn 1973 he graduated from Kaunas Polytechnic and had a job that was not related to art at all until the late 1980's when he followed his first love and attended the A. Vilpisauskas Art School. His hobby is also associated with art and creativity. He loves building and sailing catamarans. He even won the main prize in catamaran matches for 4 times. Since 1990 he has devoted his life only to painting. ANaturalistic painter‘s works reveal that he sees the world with the eyes of the impressionist. At the same time one can notice that he is a dreamer and very concentrated when painting his works. He paints two types of paintings, landscapes and mystic, cosmic compositions. P. Kardokas is interested in the reality that he sees and he tries to depict this reality in his works. He is painting not only the contemporary Kaunas sights but he is trying to revive the old Kaunas views that were common in the end of the 19th century or before the World War I. Sometimes the artist leaves the naturalism and paints abstract compositions. P. Kardokas lets himself to dream as he realizes that the unpretentious simplicity is the source of pleasure. Many people from around the world are willing to buy his works: the USA, Germany, the United Kingdom, etc. Do not hesitate to decorate your home with this original painting too!
As Lithuanian - born U.S. artist Ben Shahn (1898 - 1969) said:
An amateur is an artist who supports himself with outside jobs which enable him to paint. A professional is someone whose wife works to enable him to paint. .
