Come see the original Beauty and the Beast! NY Society for Ethical Culture presents Zémire et Azor by André Grétry:The ACO proudly presents a historic performance of an opera comique in a semi-staged version. The work was performed in Paris in 1771 and in New York City at the Fraunces Tavern in 1790. It features six lead roles in fine, memorable melodies accompanied by stylish orchestration. Zemire et Azor is the first musical setting of Beauty and the Beast, the charming French tale of transforming love.
