Description

TWO PERSONS who want to cross country ski AND help monitor trumpeter swans - a Species of Greatest Conservation Need in Idaho need to win this trip! You will join an Idaho Department of Fish and Game biologist on a ONE-DAY trip (lunch is included) to monitor wintering trumpeter swans in Idaho's Island Park Caldera. Winter swan counts in Island Park are conducted through a combination of vehicle survey and a cross country ski route parallels the scenic Henry's Fork River in Harriman State Park. Trumpeter swans in Idaho are part of the Rocky Mountain Population, currently comprised of approximately 4,500 birds. Winter swan monitoring provides important information to managing agencies on the distribution and number of swans wintering in Idaho. This trip includes a TWO NIGHT stay at Island Park's historic PONDS LODGE (www.pondslodge.com).  Winning bidder must provide transportation to Island Park, Idaho. TRIP TAKES PLACE in MARCH 2009 so immediate scheduling is of utmost importance.
