Description
Attention birders! TWO PEOPLE for TWO DAYS will join an Idaho Department of Fish and Game Conservation Education Supervisor and a retired US Forest Service biologist to survey the abundant birdlife of Idaho's mighty Salmon River and surrounding canyons near Salmon, Idaho.
First day includes a drift boat trip on the Salmon River past spectacular cliffs and lush cottonwood forests teeming with swallows, waterfowl, and Lewis' woodpeckers. Birders can also expect to see heron rookeries, American dippers, ospreys, bald eagles and peregrine falcons. After an exhilarating day, enjoy a ONE ROOM/ONE NIGHT stay at Salmon's beautiful and rustic SYRINGA LODGE. Dinner awaits with a $25.00 gift certificate from BERTRAM'S SALMON VALLEY BREWERY in downtown Salmon.
The second day includes short hikes in the forest, sagebrush and riparian habitats of the Salmon River Mountains. In addition to birds, mule deer, elk and bighorn sheep may also be observed. Ideal time for the trip is MID-LATE JUNE 2009. To see the most birds, birders should be willing to leave Salmon by 7:00 am or earlier. Winning bidders need to bring binoculars, snacks and lunches for 2 days, and appropriate layered clothing due to unpredictable weather. Winning bidders provide own transportation to Salmon.
