Description

To support U.S. soldiers through its high-quality textile products, Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind manufactures this generously sized parka fleece liner for the U.S. Navy. The liner is black with an adjustable drawstring at the bottom and a zippered-vent option under each arm. Size XL.

The garment is similar to fleece jackets made by a number of outerwear manufacturers, so can be worn alone, layored over a shirt or sweater.

Special Instructions

In 1936, the Winston-Salem Lions Club, in an effort to provide employment opportunities for persons who are blind or visually impaired in Winston-Salem and surrounding communities, opened a small, two-room workshop on Fifth Street in downtown Winston-Salem.  Six blind workers were employed manufacturing mattresses, making brooms and caning chairs. Today it is the largest employer of blind people in North Carolina with over 300 workers and fills annual contracts for labor and services valued in excess of $80 million.
