Description

Truly unique outing for two lucky families to join Kai Newell (North Class) and his family for a special afternoon at The Marine Mammal Center!

Begin with a "Call to Rescue" education program on Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands, followed by a rare behind-the-scenes tour of The Marine Mammal Center during "pupping" season.  This outing includes:

* Hands-on program at the beach taught by a top education specialist,
* Seeing animal patients currently under care, hearing what the Center does to treat sick and injured animals and return them to the wild,
* Behind-the-scenes tour of the new hospital - why is research important and what goes into a "fish-shake?"
* End-of-tour special refreshments for kids + adults (sorry, no fish-shakes).

Be among the first to visit the new Center before its grand reopening this June!  Currently closed to the public, The Marine Mammal Center has been under construction for the past two years rebuilding its animal hospital and new pens and pools for its patients.

The Marine Mammal Center is the largest rescue, treatment, and research organization of its kind.  Permitted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to rescue and treat marine mammals along 600 miles of California coastline, the Center's research teams are discovering new diseases in marine mammals and are linking ocean health to human health.  Veterinarians and animal husbandry staff have pioneered veterinary procedures and treatments now used routinely to treat marine mammals around the world including seals, sea lions, dolphins, otters, and whales.  Humpback whales "Delta" and "Dawn" are two of the many tens of thousands of animals treated by The Marine Mammal Center.

This is a Live Event Item.
