Count Me In! Enjoy the tastes, sights, and sounds of all things Japanese during an afternoon with Asian Studies teacher Mima Nojima and Menlo parent Toni Paterson. This day trip for ten includes an authentic Japanese lunch at a local restaurant. Mima will provide basic restaurant vocabulary and etiquette. (Don't worry, you won't be graded!) The next stop is Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, the oldest surviving Asian and Japanese estate garden in the Western Hemisphere. You will learn about traditional tea ceremony in a hands-on workshop and experience the peace and tranquility of the beautiful gardens on a docent-led tour.
This excursion will take place on Saturday, May 2nd from approximately 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. Carpooling is encouraged.
