This raku orb sculture by Artist Jane Kaufmann makes a beautiful addition to your garden. Kaufmann, whose sculpture was recently honored at the Currier Museum of Art, is the recipient of the Forrest D. McKerley Award for Sculpture.

After firing her pieces in an electric kiln, she then uses her driveway to raku them. Raku is a method of firing where red hot pieces are taken from a kiln with thongs and placed in pine needles to smoke the clay. Kaufmann says firing this way is both physical and exciting.
