Description
This one of a kind silk fabric covered photo album in its protective box is adorned with a delicate procelain Victorian lady pin, removable for wearing.
The pin was created by Priscilla Keen Nickerson, Doll Artisan Guild Granmaster of Dollmaking.
The process of making the pin begins with casting it in a plaster mold using porcelalin slip, producing greenware. This greenware is then air dried. Next it is kiln fired to the stage called softfiring, which allows wet cleaning before being fired at 2200 degrees, becoming procelain bisque.
Priscilla then hand paints the bisque pin with china paints. These paints require firings in the kiln for each layer painted, producing the tranluscent colors and finished beauty of the piece.
This itenm was created in Priscilla's Mystical Merriment Porcelain Dollmaking Teaching Studio in Durham, NH expressly for The Homemakers Health Services Charity Care Auction.
