The true aristocrat of Chianti Classico, a wine noble in every sense, with its lineage displaying all of the breed of the sangiovese grape. Sourced from the vineyard of the same name, Poggio Rosso is produced only in superior years.

As is the custom with all noble lineages, elements of more popular extraction have freshened its bloodline: in this case, a tad of the local colorino grape. With its elegant bearing, a character that is fierce and proud, yet frank and open hearted at the same time, Poggio Rosso, like every Renaissance knight, is the equal of every encounter.

A success story with ancient roots and a recent history, Vigorello was the precursor of an entire generation of wines that became famous as the Supertuscans.

It represented, in faraway 1968, the first effort to produce a wine that was from 100% red grapes, sangiovese, contrary to the prevailing custom of that day in the Chianti zone.

Although Vigorello currently contains some cabernet and merlot as well, it nonetheless preserves its exquisitely Tuscan character. A truly historical wine, then, one with energy and vigour, just as its name affirms.
