Description

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend "Designer Boot Camp" at Ideo, in Palo Alto. This one-week program in August 2009, brings Urban-style learning to the art and engineering of product design. Your student will join a very inventive and motivated group of teenagers who will be challenged by Ideo's most charismatic leaders to solve a new product problem in a single week. Using "Design Thinking" processes discussed in Ideo exec Tom Kelley's best-selling The Art of Innovation, the lucky high school student will learn how to discover the latent needs of consumers, how to build and test rapid prototypes, and how to manufacture a final product for presentation, all in a whirlwind week. And because Ideo shares its founder (David Kelley), its lecturers and its processes with the Stanford University "D School", Designer Boot Camp will also give your guest a glimpse of life inside Stanford. Ideo is ranked as one of the most innovative companies in the world by Business Week, with more design awards (345 since 1991) than any other design firm. It has produced cool products from the original Apple Mouse and the Treo, to the Swiffer Sweeper and Crest Neat Squeeze Tube, to Cranium toys and Nike sunglasses. Parents, this is one drop off you'll want to drive for!
