The Alexander technique aims to restore balance, posture and freedom of movement. It teaches practical self-management through a constructive control of habit and reaction and a conscious understanding of the Primary Control of our bodies. A teacher uses both verbal and physical guidance within a lesson. Students learn alternative ways from their usual habits of sitting, standing, breathing, working at a computer and moving, that puts less pressure on the body and allows for greater ease and efficiency. It is often used to assist with rehabilitation, pain management for back and neck pain, chronic headaches and stress relief. Actors, musicians and singers have been using Alexander Technique for over a century to help increase vocal power, resonance, greater breath capacity or to clear up voice issues. It is an extremely helpful management tool for a performer or non performer who suffers from carpal tunnel, tendonitis or any other chronic pain.
