Description

Our own Jean Campbell and John McKiernan are hosting a medieval dinner party where you can dress in costume, throw your bones on the floor and drink mead! Imagine the drama department doing dinner—it’s not for the faint of heart. Peter Bird, Jean husband, will cook squabs on an open fire in front of you and you’ll eat them without silverware. There will be fresh bread and medieval dishes courtesy of Jean. John McKiernan will make mead and he’ll give a little talk about the role of beer in medieval times, including his research from The Domesday Book. Dan Hartley of our drama department will do a cameo as a medieval servant. Who knows what else may happen? A reading of the bawdy “Miller’s Tale.” A showing of medieval coins? An early Renaissance sing-along? A sense of adventure is required but medieval dress is the optional .
