Your student and a friend will accompany Upper School English teacher Ms. Cohen on a "green" trip to the Los Angeles Central Library in downtown via the Metro Orange and Red Lines. The group will explore the unique features of the library building, grounds, and collections. Stops will include the Therman Statom chandeliers (can you spot a hidden vegetable?), the Ivanhoe frieze, the elevators papered with old catalogue cards, the sphinxes, and the Golden Hand entwined with the Serpent of Knowledge.

Of course, they'll look for books in any of the library's 11 departments, including Art, International Languages, Teen'Scape, and the Popular Library, so bring your library card! (Books can be returned to any branch in the system.) Lunch is included at the library cafe before heading back to the Valley by Metro.
