Description
Two center orchestra seats (6th Row) to enjoy one of the most loved operas, La Traviata. It will be staged at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.
Verdi’s heart-rending story of a Parisian courtesan with a sordid past and no future features some of the composer’s most ravishing and popular music. Grant Gershon makes his podium debut, and Marta Domingo directs a lavish period staging of this beloved opera. Marina Poplavskaya and Elizabeth Futral share the role of Violetta, the beautiful courtesan who gives herself over to decadent pleasures in the face of certain death. Tenors Massimo Giordano and Aleksei Dolgov share the role of Violetta’s young lover Alfredo Germont, with baritones Andrzej Dobber and Stephen Powell as the elder Germont, who forces Violetta to make the ultimate sacrifice.
( Sung in Italian with English Supertitles )
