Description

Giclee Print of Original Floral Collage, 36" x 24".

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Michael Mason is a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute, with a BFA degree in printmaking.
A native Oregonian, he grows native Oregon plants for sale to retail nurseries, specializing in trilliums, Solomon’s seal, false Solomon’s seal, star flowers, twisted stalk and licorice ferns, as well as other Oregon native wildflowers and plants of interest to gardeners. Since native trilliums are a protected species, he grows them from seed, a process which takes from four to seven years from planting to bloom.
Most of the flowers in his prints are grown in his garden; they are harvested and carefully preserved by drying to retain as much of the original color as possible. When dried, many of these delicate flowers are extremely fragile and difficult to work with, having a petal thickness of about .0005 of an inch, about the width of a human hair.
He uses many commonly recognized garden flowers such as pansies, violas, bachelor buttons, cosmos, lunaria, roses, tulips, poppies and vinca. He also uses other wild flowers and even weeds for his compositions.
These Giclee prints are created from original art, which is also available for sale, as well as prints in a wide variety of sizes. All are printed on archival rag paper, which will not deteriorate, using ink guaranteed against fading for 200 years.
