Description
WE WILL ALWAYS BELONG TOGETHER
Mr. Sondheim, meet Mr. Seurat. When Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine were developing their ground-breaking, Pulitzer Prize winning Sunday in the Park with George in 1983, they paid a visit to the original at the Art Institute of Chicago and Mr. Lapine shot this candid photograph of his famous collaborator in front of the source of their inspiration. According to Mr. Lapine, the visit with the painting occurred just before the workshop of the musical at Playwrights Horizons.
This is a limited archival print from a negative that's been sitting in Mr. Lapine's desk for over two decades. He only made two other prints and Mr. Sondheim has one of them.
Lapine has hand-signed the print. On the bottom left it says "Sondheim and Seurat 1983." It is approximately 5"x7" and will be presented to the auction winner in a beautiful 11"x14" mat.
Move on and bid now for an opportunity to own a piece of musical theater history!
