See the dancer's hard at work. Bring your family to watch an hour's rehearsal of Marin Ballet's Nutcracker and watch RVSD Mom and choreographer, Julia Adam, work with the dancers.
Julia has been commissioned to choreograph a new version of the Nutcracker. She will be working with the kids this July creating Act 2 (having already completed Act 1).
How wonderful to see what happens while the choreographer and dancers are creating something in the moment and to see how hard the children work. Dance is a beautiful medium but it takes a lot of focus, time and sweat.
Special Instructions
Julia Adam is Canadian born. Trained at the National Ballet School in Toronto then joined the National Ballet of Canada and danced there for 4 years. She joined the San Francisco Ballet in 1988 where she danced for 13 years and retired as a Principal Dancer in 2002 with the birth of her first child Zoe. She started choreographing while still dancing and when she retired her choreographic career was blooming. Julia choreographs all over the country for ballet companies such as San Francisco Ballet, Houston Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theater, Memphis Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Ballet Arizona, American Ballet Theaters second company and many more. The works that she has choreographed have been shown all over America and Canada along with the Paris Opera and Covent Garden in London.
