About the artist:
Deb Lyons works in pastel, capturing landscapes, flowers, still life and stuffed animals in an Impressionistic style. Deb began painting in pastels in 1989. It was a new area for her to explore as she had previously worked abstractly in oils, many years earlier. What drew her to realistic painting was the challenge of capturing light and shadow in color. She considers it a joy and honor to have any day free to soak in the beauty of Vermont. It is also a humbling exercise for her.
Deb's faith and desire to be genuine provides the inspiration that makes painting possible. She shares, in the words of Rich Mullins: "We are joined in a responsibility to together make this world a good one for all of us. Each of us warms the world or chills it inasmuch as we offer or withhold respect, hospitality, encouragement, love, or truth. In that sense we are all parts of each other's well-being or sickness, and we affect the climate that we all share." Deb strives to leave this world a few degrees warmer.
Deb Lyons is a frequent contributor to local non-profit organizations and has displayed her works in numerous restaurants and businesses in Chittenden County Vermont since 1995. She has studied with a variety of individual teachers and at local and national colleges.
