Description
Interested in law enforcement? Like behind-the-scenes tours? Then this is for you!
Enjoy lunch with Placer County Sheriff Ed Bonner (Class II) and a guided tour of the new justice center in Roseville. See the state-of-the-art courtrooms, in-custody holding cells, and the system of discrete elevators and hallways that segregate inmates from the staff and general public.
The Bill Santucci Justice Center, located in Roseville, was opened in July 2008. The plan for the facility revolved around the need to better serve the constituents of Placer County, and to improve efficiencies in law enforcement operations.
The Justice Center houses nine courtrooms that serve the public's need for Criminal, Traffic, Civil, and Family Law cases. In addition to court operations, the facility has office space for the District Attorney’s Office and the Probation Department. The County’s vision is a complex that will eventually include a detention facility, Sheriff’s substation and office space for related services.
The design of the 108,000 square foot two-story courthouse is complex, requiring a three-part segregation of users: the public, judges and their staff, and inmates appearing for court. The basement contains in-custody holding facilities and discrete elevators connecting to the courtrooms to allow secure movement of inmates segregated from staff and the general public.
The courtrooms themselves are state-of-the-art. They are equipped with the latest in technology to promote efficiency and safety and aid in the delivery of information to those present in the courtroom, including the judge, jury, prosecutor and defense attorney.
The Justice Center was named after Bill Santucci, a long-time member of the Placer County Board of Supervisors and a devoted public servant, who passed away on May 7, 2008.
