Description
One week of Hui Summer ART camp for one child (ages 5-12 yrs. old). Choose one week from 6/8/09 - 8/7/09.
Located on the upcountry estate of Kaluanui, the Hui No`eau Visual Arts Center provides an array of programs that support lifelong learning in the arts including public workshops and classes, lectures, exhibitions, art events, historical house tours and educational outreach programs with schools and community partner organizations. One of the last of its kind on Maui, we are a non-profit, non-degree granting, community-based arts education organization offering open access to quality arts instruction by professional teaching artists. Our programs and services are accessible to all, regardless of artistic aptitude or ability to pay registration fees.
Summer ARTcamp is designed to develop students' appreciation and understanding of the visual arts, stretching minds and exercising imaginations in a safe, rural, FUN environment. With a low student-teacher ratio, workshops are geared toward each student's individual level of achievement and offer two age-appropriate levels of learning. A balance is sought between preserving the child's natural creativity and providing the skills and discipline necessary for deeper expression to unfold as they explore a balanced curriculum of painting, drawing, clay building, jewelry design, photography, creative movement, dramatic play, group discussion, and more. Each week our team of teaching artists will focus on a different theme that will serve as a link between the wide range of artistic media taught throughout the session.
