Description

8" circ. Reproduction of a c. 1720 delftware dish made in Bristol, England, and in the collections of The Chipstone Foundation.  The lion with a human face is thought to represent King William, based on a 1641 engraving by Wenceslas Hollar that commemorates the marriage of Wiliam & Mary and depicts two lions with faces holding an orange.  A similar dishwas excavated in Colonial Williamsburg at the Coke-Garret House.
