Description
Not sure if your home is quake ready? Many seismic/foundation retrofits are incomplete or have been performed incorrectly - how about yours? What spot in each room is the safest place during a serious quake? Where are your utility shutoffs - can you operate them? Do they work correctly?
If you're unsure about any of the above, then QuakeConsult is for you!
The QuakeConsult
This consult will help you prepare for and protect yourself and your home during an earthquake. You will learn:
- About the adequacy of your house's seismic connection to the foundation. Note: The majority of homes in the Bay area are considered "old." If your home has not had a seismic retrofit, it is automatically unsafe in a serious earthquake.
- Which specific appliances, furniture, and wall hangings need securing and which don't. Not everything needs to be secured to a wall!
- The safest place to be in each room of your home during a serious quake.
- The location and operation of the gas, water, and electric cut-offs for your home.
