Description
Creamy white earthenware with distinctive tiny crackle glaze – possibly Satsuma. Incised artist signature. Golden rim and crane motif. The crane (tsuru) was known in Japan as “the bird of happiness” and represents fidelity (they pair for life), good fortune, longevity, immortality, prosperity, and good health, and is therefore used extensively as a wedding symbol.
