Description

A get-away package in beautiful, tidewater St. Mary's County...if you haven't been then you don't know what yuo are missing!  An "Archaeology to Architecture" package which includes an overnight stay at the Brome-Howard inn, and a private walking tour by Dr. Henry M. Miller, the Historic Saint Mary's City (HSMC) director of research.

The walking tour of Historic St. Mary's City, a museum of history an archaeology on the site of Maryland's first capital, will be led by Dr. Miller who has dedicated his career to studying the colonial Chesapeake, and is widely considered a leading authority.  You'll discover how historians and archaeologists reconstruct the past from scant evidence, get the inside scoop on excavations at one of the finest colonial archeology sites in the nation, and visit the archaeology lag for a tour with authorities.  Tour will last approximately 3 hours, leaving you time to explore other museum and archeology sites on your own.

The Brome-Howard Inn is a circa-1840 manor house set on the banks of the peaceful St. Mary's River and voted one of Washingtonian magazine's "Top 10 Inns." Guest rooms are individually decorated with antiques, heirlooms, high quality bedding and period artwork.  Stay includes spectacular views and a gourmet breakfast.
