Goals

What?

• a summer, safety education camp for kids ages 6 - 9.

• week-long sessions; four hours per day.

• Safety City U.S.A. is a collaborative program of the Royal Oak Fire and Police departments

   along with Beaumont Hospitals.

• first nonprofit, injury prevention/safety center in Michigan, one of a few in the United States.

• education through fun, “hands-on,” interactive, age-appropriate, activities

• Safety City U.S.A. is comprised of replicas of household rooms — family room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. A smoke simulator is used to teach fire safety. It also includes an indoor park area.

Where?

Conveniently located in the Northwood Shopping Center in Royal Oak (13 Mile Road

and Woodward Avenue).

2010 Camp Sessions

• each session is one week – Monday through Friday

• four hours per day

• Date and times to be determined

Camp Programs Include

• fire safety

• home safety

• traffic safety

• bike safety

• police day - stranger danger, bullying

Activities and programs are led by fire and police personnel from Royal Oak, health care professionals from Beaumont Hospitals and trained volunteers.
