Known for her large and colorful canvases, Ellen Liman's work hangs in numerous private and corporate collections. She has had several solo exibitions in New York, Palm Beach and Martha's Vineyard.

Her work honors nature in a most sophiscated manner. Flowers blossom in the light; fruit lure with their intimate perfection. Liman can also bring a landscape to life as evidenced in many of her pieces such as Jamaica and Beach. Although Liman is a New Yorker, the New England countryside inspires much of her work. The strong connection between artist and subject manifests itself in the vibrancy of her scenes.

A graduate of Barnard College, Liman studied at several art schools including the Rhode Island School of Design, the Art Student's League, Columbia University and the National Acadamy of Design.

Liman has written and illustrated several books on design and collecting and served as the former chairperson for the New York city Commission for Cultural Affairs. She lives in New York City.
