Beautiful antique cut steel cuff of French origin dating to the Second Empire (1850 – 1860). Cut steel jewelry was often more expensive than gold and therefore a favorite of the nobility. Napoleon I, on his marriage to Marie-Louise of Austria commissioned a whole parure of cut steel for his new bride.

The cuff has a recycled chain and sterling silver clasp.
