Over the last four years, the artist Gene De Bartolo has explored the creatures of the naturalist world. Earlier an intense abstract painter of multifarious palettes, he had adopted brush and ink as his medium, heralding the masters of draughtsmanship, and Oriental calligraphers and painters. From this juncture, De Bartolo moved to ponder another facet of his naturalistic wonders by photographing his drawings. This lot is his photograph, "Hummingbird" from his series of Collectible Creatures.
