Master contemporary composer, NEC's own Larry Bell, generously donates eleven signed CDs to the KIH auction. These CDs of Larry Bell's works include:The Sentimental Muse; The Book of Moonlight; Going Home; Reminiscences and Reflections; River of Ponds; Vocal Music; Unchanging Love; and Music for Strings, with the Borromeo String Quartet. Three CDs also feature Lary Bell's work: Hansel and Gretel with the NEC Youth Philharmonic; and two CDs from the Music from Six Continents series.
Larry Bell has been awarded The Rome Prize, fellowships from the Guggenheim and Rockefeller Foundations and the Charles Ives Award from the American Academy of Arts and letters. Bell's music has been performed in the United States and abroad by such orchestras and ensembles as the Atlanta Symphony, Seatlle Symphony, RAI Orchestra of Rome, Juilliard Philharmonia, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Civic Symphony of Boston, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, Boston Chamber Music Society, New York New Music Ensemble, and at festivals in Ravinia, Aspen, Valencia, Pontino, and San Salvador.
Larry Bell received his DMA from The Juiliard School, working with Vincent Persichetti and Roger Sessions. Bell is the chair of music theory at the New England Conservatory of Music Division of Preparatory and Continuing Education.
This is an extraordinary collection of major contemporary works and is certain to have a prominent place in the music library of any aficionado of all that is best in modern music.
