The big pool is shaped like the state of California, set in a spacious, sunny deck next to a free-form whirlpool large enough for 16 guests at a time. (The pool area closes at 10 pm, discouraging those late-night hot-tub parties.) A half-dozen or so traditional palm-topped palapas give the pool area a convincing tropical look. The 24-hour marina-view fitness center is well-equipped for all but the most fervent gym rat. This property is superior to anything the hotels in Mission Valley have to offer.
